As gugu expanded, the key challenge was expanding beyond its own direct-to-consumer site into major Japanese platforms without diluting that sense of simplicity. Competing in crowded marketplaces, managing bulky nationwide shipping, and reassuring first-time online mattress buyers all had to be addressed without overcomplicating the brand.
